Before You Buy
Does it work with iPhones? How about Android phones?
Yes. If your iPhone can download the eufy app, then you are able to use eufySecurity devices.
The eufy app is compatible with Android (8.0+) and iOS (10.2+) devices. You can download it in Google Play or Apple Store.
Can you put the camera inside in a window pointed outside?
We are sorry that we are unable to put the camera inside in a window pointed outside as it will affect the camera's motion detection.
Can the eufy system be used on a desktop instead of a phone or tablet?
The eufy system can be used on the computer side, but the functions are limited. We suggest you use the mobile to control the eufy devices.
I want to install this in my car. Assuming I have the power source for the home base, will this work on a hot spot wi-fi signal created by an iPhone?
You can use the Eufy Cam system in your car. Firstly, set up your Homebase and Eufy cam with the Ethernet cable via a router. Then, change the wifi connection of the Homebase to your hotspot Wi-Fi signal created by an iPhone and move the system( including Homebase and Eufy cam) to your car.
Can I use this without the Internet?
No. Please be advised that the system needs to connect to the internet by ethernet cable when setting up, and needs to be connected to the Internet when in use for full performance.
Does the HomeBase station AC power adapter work with 110V and 220V?
Yes, the AC adapter works with 110V and 220V.
What if your home Internet is 5GHz. Can I still get these setup?
No. eufySecurity device only works with 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi.
How many months of video can the microSD card save?
The HomeBase E comes with 16GB local storage on the included microSD card.
It can store 2 months' worth of videos for a system with 1 camera, or 1 month for a system with 2 cameras (30 motion detections a day and 60 seconds recording each time).
If you inserted your own microSD card, please convert it yourself.
What will happen if the SD card is full?
New files will overwrite the old files when the onboard storage in the HomeBase is filled up.
Can I read the SD card on my desktop?
To protect customer privacy, the SD card is encrypted and cannot be read directly by a desktop computer.
How do you upgrade the micro SD on the HomeBase/E to 128GB?
The system works with all microSD cards that are Class 10 and above and a maximum capacity of 128GB. Simply remove the included Micro SD card and insert the new card. Please remember to save important historical videos before removing the SD card.
Does the Samsung 128GB SD card need formatting prior to inserting it into the Homebase slot?
The HomeBase will request the new micro SD card to be formatted after the new micro SD card is inserted into the HomeBase slot.
Does your local storage require a subscription?
Recording to local storage doesn't require a subscription. All the videos will be saved on the micro SD card of the Homebase E and uploaded to the eufy app without a subscription.
Does the system support RTSP/NAS?
Yes. The system supports RTSP streaming, footage can be saved to NAS. You can find this in the menu Camera Settings > RTSP/NAS.
The NAS requires you to run proper surveillance software with RTSP protocol support.
Does the system support Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive?
Not yet. This may be a direction we are considering.
If I delete the clips from the App on my phone, will they be deleted from the SD card?
Yes. If you delete them from the eufy App (events area), they will be deleted from the SD card as well.
Does the system work with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and HomeKit?
The system supports Amazon Alexa. For Google Assistant, Google Hub/Nest Hub are supported. HomeKit is not yet supported.
Does the system work with other smart home platforms?
We don’t have plans to support SmartThings, Wink, Nest, Home Assistant, or Blue Iris yet.
App Setup
Can the video from this unit be watched in real time on a laptop or desktop computer?
Yes, you can see the live feed on eufy security web portal.
Does the app support the two-way talking feature?
Yes, it supports the two-way talking.
How far can the camera be placed from the HomeBase E?
In most cases, the camera can be placed from the HomeBase E within 20-30ft. The actual range will vary depending on a number of factors such as the thickness of walls, obstacles inside the house, and the location of HomeBase.
How far can HomeBase E be placed from the router?
In theory, the HomeBase E can be 50ft from the WI-Fi router. The actual range will vary depending on a number of factors such as the thickness of walls, obstacles inside the house, and the location of the router.
Should I use an ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection between the HomeBase and router?
If your HomeBase and camera’s range is within limits and the signal is strong, the default ethernet cable connection is recommended.
If your HomeBase and camera’s range is outside of limits, you can set your HomeBase to Wi-Fi connection. Of course, the corresponding network transmission will become less stable, and the real-time stream may have more delays.
Does the HomeBase need to connect using Ethernet or can it connect to the router wirelessly?
During the setup process, HomeBase must connect to a router via an Ethernet cable.
After setup, HomeBase can be switched to a Wi-Fi connection in the Side menu > My Devices > Select HomeBase > HomeBase Settings > Connection. See details via Connect the HomeBase 2 to Wi-Fi.
How many cameras can this system support?
Ideally, Homebase E can work with up to 16 cameras and 16 sensors.
Can I use the eufyCam 2/2C/2 Pro/2C Pro camera with this HomeBase E?
Yes, all eufy cameras can work with all eufy HomeBase.
Can I view live video, and previous recordings when I'm away from home or does my phone need to be within the wifi range of the base station?
Yes, as long as the system is working properly and your phone has access to the Internet, you will be able to view live video and previous recordings when you are away from home.
Is there a setting to keep video playing without timing out?
Continuously watching the live stream will quickly consume power and also affect the battery. So EufyCam cannot watch the live stream all the time.
What is the max duration of each clip?
Normally, the duration of each clip can be up to 2 minutes.
Does this record continuously or only when there's motion?
It will record when there is motion.
Does motion activation provide a 5-second look-back start?
No, the eufyCam E doesn't support pre-buffer.
Is there a setting that can make the system support 24x7 recording?
No. The camera is powered by batteries. eufyCam is designed to offer a good balance between battery life and event capturing.
Hardware Installation
How do you mount this camera under a soffit or on the ceiling, basically any horizontal surface?
You can mount this camera under a soffit or on the ceiling via the outdoor mount.
What is the Ethernet cable used for?
During the Setup process, the HomeBase E must be connected to the router via the ethernet cable.
I've misplaced the AC power cable. Can I replace this with any AC power cable?
You can charge the camera or Homebase with a replacement cable of 5V /2 A but the iPhone cable is 5V/1A, so the iPhone charging cable can not be used to charge the camera.
Can I plug into an 8 port network hub or does it need to be plugged directly to the router during the initial setup?
Normally, if your computer can have access to the internet without problem via the 8 port network hub’s Ethernet port, it should work with the eufy Homebase.
Does the HomeBase act as a wifi extender? In other words, does the camera need to be connected to the wifi/router?
The HomeBase acts as a router for cameras. The camera will connect to the Homebase via Sub 1G wifi.
Can the mount stick to walls or does it cause damage to the wall?
To install the mount for the camera, you will need to have a screw stick to the wall.
Can I install indoors or is it for outside only?
Please be advised that you can install the cameras both indoor and outdoor.
Can the camera be easily stolen?
The cameras can be screw-mounted, so it is not so easy to be stolen.
