The purpose of enabling two-factor authentication is to protect you from any unauthorized access to your eufySecurity account.
How to enable 2FA verification?
1. App Account Settings
You will find two-factor authentication in Account Settings, tap on it and you will be able to either enable or disable it. In order to enable this option for the first time, you will have to enter the verification code sent to your email account.
Steps in the app: Select the menu icon at the upper left corner of the main screen > Select your email account > Account Settings > Select Two-factor authentication > Enable it.
For the app whose version is 4.5.5 or above, the steps to find two-factor authentication should be: Select the menu icon at the upper left corner of the main screen> Avatar -> Two-factor Authentication
2. Update the App
If your app is an older version and you cannot find the above button, please update the eufySecurity app in Google Play or App Store first.
After you update the eufySecurity app, a pop-up notification window on the app’s main screen will prompt you to enable two-factor authentication. You can choose to either “Turn On” or “Cancel” according to your preferences. In order to enable this option for the first time, you will have to enter the verification code sent to your email account.
What is the logic of the verification code when 2FA is enabled?
1. Verification Code
- Email by default. Registering your mobile phone number to receive a code via text message is optional.
- A six-digit code that expires after 5 minutes.
- If the verification code is sent multiple times, the old verification code can still be verified within the validity period of 5 minutes.
2. Trusted Devices
After enabling two-factor authentication, trusted devices can log in without entering the verification code.
- If you log in again with a device that has been added to the list of trusted devices and haven’t logged in for 30 days, you will need to enter the verification code. The verification code is sent by email by default.
- If you log in with a device that has not been added to the list of trusted devices or after the token expires, you will need to enter the verification code again. The verification code is sent by text message by default.
- Trusted devices can only be configured on mobile phones.
What if I turn off 2FA?
1. The trusted phone and phone number will be cleared.
2. Uninstalling the app on a mobile phone does not affect the two-factor authentication setting or the list of trusted devices. However, deleting the account will disable the two-factor authentication setting.
