With a smart meter, you don’t need a smart plug.
A smart meter measures the power at the input end of the home grid, thereby providing Solarbank with better power regulation reference information.
If it's inconvenient to install a smart meter, consider using a smart plug to monitor equipment with large power fluctuations, allowing Solarbank to adjust the feed power according to the power changes of these electrical devices.
We do not recommend using both a smart meter and smart plug simultaneously, as the charging and discharging logic will adjust according to the selected mode.
-
If you select Self-Consumption mode, Solarbank will intelligently charge and discharge based on real-time power demand, as determined by the smart meter.
-
If you select Smart Plug mode, Solarbank will intelligently charge and discharge based on your custom discharge strategy and real-time power demand, as determined from the smart plug.
-
Solarbank cannot discharge based on the total power determined by a smart meter and a smart plug.
-
If a smart plug is on a branch circuit and a smart meter is on the main circuit, the smart meter's measurement already includes the power consumption of the smart plug, so only the smart meter's power needs to be monitored.
-
If a smart plug and a smart meter are on different branch circuits, Solarbank would only be able to use the power of the device on its own branch with excess power being fed back to the grid. The branch without Solarbank would still need to purchase electricity from the grid, failing to achieve energy savings.
