This article will answer some common questions we have received for Anker SOLIX X1 and solar (PV) power generation during outages. 

During outages, can I use PV generation to supply power to my home?

Yes, as long as there is sufficient sunlight during a power outage, you can use solar (PV) generation to supply power to your home.

Why does solar (PV) power also shut down when an outage starts?

To prevent solar (PV) overload and to protect the power supply to home loads, the X1 system temporarily disconnects from the PV relay in the Backup Controller.

If the system remains off-grid for longer than 5 minutes, the PV relay will reconnect, allowing the PV inverter to restart. After restarting, the X1 system can continue using solar (PV) energy to supply power to the home.

Notes: 

• Startup times vary depending on the inverter model. The entire PV reactivation process may take 5 to 10 minutes.

• If the SOC of the system is high when outage starts, the PV won't start until it drops to 85%. When it does, the PV will start and charge the battery to 95% and then shut down. Reference: [Off-grid mode] part in Anker SOLIX X1 Modes Explained

Why does PV generation suddenly shut down during a power outage?

It could be an A30 PV overload fault. Check the Anker app to confirm.

If so, your solar (PV) generation exceeds the 90% maximum allowable system charging power, forcing a system shutdown. The fault will clear once the system is reconnected to the grid or at midnight.

Note: The current system design may result in lower solar (PV) utilization. We are aware of the issue, and we are working on firmware updates to reduce the likelihood of solar (PV) shutdowns and fault recovery time. Please keep your system firmware up to date for improvements.

Can solar (PV) power restart the X1 system after the battery depletes?

No for AC-coupled versions of X1. Instead, the Anker app will prompt you to turn off the system when the battery depletes. You'll then be guided to manually turn on the system after solar (PV) power is online to continue using off-grid solar (PV) power.

When an outage ends, why is solar (PV) power temporarily turned off?

To meet the requirements of grid regulations, solar (PV) power is required to be off for 5 minutes after reconnecting to the grid. Once 5 minutes have passed, solar (PV) power can be used normally.
