The climbing height of the RoboVac X8 Series is 17mm/0.67in, and the climbing height of the RoboVac LR20/LR30/L35/L50/L60 Series is 20mm/0.79in. Generally, they can work on 26mm/1.02in carpets, but here are a few scenarios listed below where the RoboVac may not work:
- Very thick wool or carpets with tassels
When the RoboVac runs on a carpet with tassels or when a carpet's total thickness exceeds 26mm/1.02in, its brushes and wheels can easily get stuck on them, thus it cannot function properly. If the RoboVac X8 Series are required to navigate across a carpet on the floor, the carpet must be less than 17mm/0.67in. If the RoboVac LR20/LR30/L35/L50/L60 Series are required to navigate across a carpet on the floor, the carpet must be less than 19mm/0.75in.
- Dark-colored carpets
The drop sensors on the bottom of the RoboVac work with the infrared ray to detect edges and prevent RoboVac from dropping. However, very dark-colored carpets/floors will interfere with the infrared ray by creating blind spots so the sensors on the RoboVac will not be able to detect the surroundings and it will behave abnormally. This is a common phenomenon of RoboVac models using IR sensors on the current market.
*The X8/LR20/LR30/L35/L50/L60 Series including other eufy RoboVacs are not able to recognize carpet automatically.
What can we do in the circumstances mentioned above?
- Set up a No-go Zone/Virtual Boundary on the app
X8/X8 Hybrid/LR20/LR30 Hybrid/LR30 Hybrid+/L35 Hybrid/L35 Hybrid+/L50/L50 SES/L60/L60 SES/L60 Hybrid SES/L60 Hybrid supports map features and users can set up No-go Zone/Virtual Boundary to block off the RoboVac. Please read the article How to set up the No-go Zone/Virtual Boundary for X8/X8 Hybrid? for instructions.
- Place boundary strips around carpeted areas
Although X8/X8 Hybrid doesn’t come with boundary strips, they do recognize boundary strips. The magnetic sensors on the RoboVac will recognize boundary strips and once you place boundary strips around the carpeted areas, your RoboVac will not cross into the area anymore.
You can refer to the article on How to use the boundary strips to block off Robovac.
If you do need physical boundary strips, you can purchase boundary strips.
